Robyn Hall Wanaka Garden | Central Otago

US$0.00

This landscape project draws upon a newly constructed family home and an existing rural setting. The new home is a sleek contemporary prism that floats gracefully over the shallow clavicle between two small hills. The existing landscape context is one of rolling pastureland with the stunning Central Otago ranges as a backdrop. The site has been transformed from a muddy, nondescript paddock into a series of outdoor rooms, ephemeral stream, and sprawling grass plains.

New landscape insertions immediately adjacent the house, reflect its angular contemporary geometries. An intensity of elements describes the environs immediately east of the house, the main entry, deck and spa area and the paved courtyard are described by a series of decisively simple linear lines and extrusions. Beyond the house, the geometry is loosened, playing between the organic forces of nature (the Kowhai Glade and ephemeral stream course) and the more ordered geometries of agriculture (the orchard).
