Project Objectives
- Clarify the Wellington School of Medicine’s connection to Mein Street and its hospital context.
- Provide engaging useable outdoor space for visitors, staff and students.
Key Features
- Improved visual cues denoting the School’s entry access from Mein Street through the implementation of street-tree planting and revitalized garden entry statements. An improved pedestrian connection from Mein Street to the School’s front door employs ceramic paving, a throw-back to the site’s previous aesthetic, in a composition that draws visitors to the front door.
- ‘Green curtains’ augment the building’s dramatic frontage, drawing the landscape over the building itself.
